Description

Dark Sky is the most accurate source of hyperlocal weather information. With down-to-the-minute forecasts, you’ll know exactly when the rain will start or stop, right where you’re standing. (It’s like magic.) Featured in: New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Wired, and more. YOUR WEATHER, DOWN TO THE MINUTE Dark Sky is able to create forecasts for your precise location, giving you minute-by-minute predictions for the next hour and hour-by-hour forecasts for the next day and week. BEAUTIFUL WEATHER ANIMATIONS The same technology that powers Dark Sky’s predictions also allows us to make the world’s first perfectly smooth radar animation. Other apps show you a chunky slideshow that makes it nearly impossible to tell how storms are moving. But Dark Sky’s radar animation lets you see the actual path of the storm: how it moved in the past, and where it’s going in the future. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS Dark Sky comes with advanced notification options: Receive down-to-the-minute alerts before it starts raining at your exact location, get notified of government severe weather alerts (for such things as thunderstorms, flooding, hurricanes, etc.), or even create your own custom notifications covering the next 24 hours for things like temperature, wind, precipitation and more. Even if you haven’t opened the app in days, Dark Sky will tell you what you need to know, when you need to know it. TODAY WIDGET The Dark Sky Notification Center Widget tells you at a glance what’s going to happen in the next hour and the next week, so you don’t even have to unlock your phone to quickly check the weather before heading out. TIME MACHINE Explore weather in the past or future. Choose a date and see historical weather data or future predictions based off of seasonal averages. APPLE WATCH Dark Sky looks great on your wrist. Get notifications and check out the weather for the next week with the Dark Sky app built from scratch for Apple Watch.

  • Consistently incorrect weather

Dark Sky fails at the most basic critical task for a weather app: accurately predicting the weather. It’s been so ridiculously far off about our weather that it’s lost all credibility with me. For example, one week it predicted 6” of snow over several days. We live in the south. Snow is a big deal because we so rarely get it. We naturally ended up with only light rain. In fact, no city anywhere near us experienced snow. Other times, Dark Sky predicts a week of rain, and then day by day it gets moved off - by the end of the week, you’ve had nothing but clear skies. In comparison, Weather Channel has predicted our weather consistently right, so I know it’s possible to be accurate. This last week was the last straw. Dark Sky predicted snow on a day that it was 46 out! Of course, we got the rain that Weather Channel forecast. Time to delete this app. Dark Sky is unable to accurately predict the WEATHER. You had one job.
  • Would like a night mode option...

The app is WAY too bright, consider putting a night mode option where everything isn’t an white. The app is very basic and could use some more customizability, different themes would be nice for users to switch from in the app. We spent 5 dollars the least we could have is more customizable options for the apps theme
  • Suggestions for improvement

1.The data is great...the new interface is actually a downgrade from the old one. You get used to it after a while though. Kindly fast track a new interface redesign.(please don’t try to cram too much information into one screen which is what the new interface does!) 2.Inability to permanently save a location. Every time I save a location(search and drag a location to the “saved locations”...it is lost after I close the app and the new locations are lost)
  • Was the best, but now...

When I downloaded this app, I showed it to everyone I know. It was simple, yet everything you needed was there. It was accurate down to the minute. Then they literally changed the ENTIRE APP and created something that was less intuitive to use and just as bland as every other weather app. My vote would be to rework the entire thing back to what it was when everyone loved it. Meanwhile, I’ll be on the lookout for an app that is what this one was.
  • Radar is the worst!

I paid money for this?! The radar is glitchy and only gives 1 hour predictive view! I’m sure this must be a gag app. One that I wasted money on!

  • Great app, horrible widget

The app itself is great but the widget is horrible. 8 out of 10 times when I scroll over to look at the widget it says it can’t display the weather data or is just a blank widget.
  • search issues

if i search "brooklyn", it suggests "brooklyn, oh". if i search "brooklyn, ny", it suggests a different brooklyn, in west ny. pretty dumb. i am unable to delete previously searched locations and saved locations. it removes it temporarily, but if i restart the app, my history is still there.

I really like this app. I’ve been using it since it was first introduced years ago, snd am thoroughly satisfied with it. I submit very few reviews of the many products in apps I’ve bought online, but in this case I thought I’d offer a review for a product I am really pleased with.
  • Thanks for giving attention to Apple Watch

You guys have made the best weather app out there for years. But I REALLY, truly appreciate the attention you give to the Apple Watch version. As someone who uses their watch much more frequently than their phone, it’s nice to get the notifications. I also love the redesign that puts the AW app on par with the phone. Thanks for your commitment to both platforms!
