  • Hoping For Fixes

    By Jay DeDon
I want this app to be awesome. I love it so much. It’s simple, fast, and extremely functional. It does what I need. I’m a middle school band director and a trumpet instructor. I have premiered pieces with it and written SO MANY exercises with it. However there are a lot of bugs that make it frustrating. I would pay more money to have a constantly updating and improving app.
  • Could be much better

    By elhydd1
This is only for a quick scores, don’t expect to do a detail charts. It helps a lot to bring down some ideas, plus you have the option to pair a Bluetooth keyboard for notes input. It works fine to do jazz charts, or vocales arrangements. But again, don’t expect to have all the tools you normally use for scoring.
  • Notion is not up to Apple standards

    By Portnoy 101
Be forewarned, this product, its services and support are not up to Apple standards. My download yesterday was useless from the get-go. 1. The space bar did not function in lyrics. Try writing lyrics without a space bar! 2. I could not enter a rest after a 1/4 note without it sliding down the measure 1.5 beats and making the phrase totally useless. I then purchased the writing app hoping I could do this manually. No luck. Now I’m out a few more bucks. If you have a problem you can not phone support. You have to file a ticket. I have yet to hear back from them. It also lacks an introductory demo. ProSonus should take a look at the two minute clips Apple Support has on YouTube for iPad. So I am frustrated, annoyed, out some money and listening to the crickets waiting for a reply to my ticket complaint. There is no meaningful support with this product. Next step: asking Apple for a refund.
  • Annoyances are accumulating

    By DJNatzke
The notation system gets confused at very simple things: I mark a single measure to be in 3/16 meter, and the surrounding measures as 4/4, yet on playback, empty beats manifest after the three sixteenth-note beats in the 3/16 measure. Sometimes using the <, > buttons at the lower corner, for navigating through notes, *changes* selected notes when you move past them; other times it doesn’t. When using the keyboard feature to add notes into a single chords (i.e. stacking pitches), moving > to the next beat to begin stacking a new chord for some reason replicates the previous chord in that spot, in the way of the new one you want to make. It’s confusing and odd to have *both* the green-highlight-select and the tan, note-editing select, completely independent of each other. This leads to confusion if you’ve been editing a note or chord, and then want to hit play to hear it. This is why Noteflight recognizes one, unified form of selecting a note or section.
  • Grace notes won’t attach to selected note.

    By MissNarwhals
Grace notes won’t attach to the selected note, plain and simple—the app seems to want to smack it onto the first note of the measure, regardless of what note you picked. This is very frustrating. Otherwise it’s a good app.
  • Apple Pencil not working on one line percussion

When I enter notation with Apple Pencil it disappears a second after I enter it. Seems like a good app but disappointing also service is frustrating. Please respond. Thank
  • Amazing For Composers

    By Monish Corona
I want to start off this review by saying while I absolutely love this app to the point where I don’t think I can live with out it, there is room for improvement. I’d like to get my very few negatives out of the way. I’m using an iPad Pro 10.5 inch, and I do believe the stability can be improved. It does crash maybe about once a day (I do compose for hours at a time, so keep this in mind), and there are times where the audio is heavily distorted. This can be fixed by closing the app and pulling it back up, but it is a slight inconvenience. Some instruments should be free. I don’t think I should pay 99¢ for a cowbell, when a Violin Ensemble is the same price. I don’t find this to be acceptable. Writing with Apple Pencil is great, amazing even, but it can be a little more accurate at times. Now for the positives. This app has literally change the way I compose. I hate using those apps like Sibelius on my Mac, because I hate trying to click to a different note, and it turns out to take a lot longer than it should to come home something simple. While I like using Logic Pro X to compose at times, it’s nice to see things with accurate sheet music. I love that there are different formats that you can export your music to (although, I do wish there was a MP3 option, since WAV files tend to be really big). Apple’s new iOS 11 update, adding things onto the file app is a breeze. I currently attend Berklee College of music, and I’ve turned into about 80% of my assignments with this app, and my iPad alone. Overall, if you’re a composer, I think this app is essential. Some people might think the price is a bit high, but I promise that it’s worth every penny, and has improved my workflow in such an amazing way.

  • Handwriting feature needs to be more reliable

    By callummichaelmurphy
Handwriting is unreliable, needs to be better at recognizing what I have written and also needs to recognize more symbols in general. Really good app but definitely needs improving. If I see change I will gladly raise the score
