  • The controls!

The game itself is just a faithful adaptation to the IOS system, though I don’t think this iteration of fftactics is particularly great either way. The main problem with this game are the controls. Instead of just essentially making it an emulator with a Dpad, R, L, A, B, they decided to integrate touch screen to try and increase responsiveness and speed. However this makes accurately selecting tiles and commands a pain in the butt. Additionally, and more experience ruining, moving around battles is just painful. I would not recommend buying this at its price point.

First I like to thank the developers for this game! With that said I can only give this game 3 stars. Due to the fact that this game does not support the backbone controller. Please update the game, and allow controller support. I will give 5 stars if that ever happens
  • Unplayable enemies overpowered

All enemies keep spawning at level 6 BEFORE ANY of my guys are even level 5, WHILE outnumbering my team. I cant even grind to be strong because of it EVERY SINGLE BATTLE IS A LOSS even after all the online guides. Heartbroken over the level of ineptitude in game development.
  • A true classic, nearly the definitive version

A classic game, and this is a great version. Runs without hiccups, and everything is as you remember it, the music especially makes this a masterpiece. It plays well and I don’t think the touch interface could be improved, it works well. My biggest ask, and this is not really a complaint, but is adding controller support possible? I would love to use something like my Backbone to play with a controller more easily. That would easily improve my score to five stars.

It’s been so many years since the original FF Tactics came out, I’m glad I can play it on mobile of all places. 😁

This game was fun for its time but they didn’t update to learn from later remasters. I like how they added so many things to the original, like being able to play as Luso and Balthier from other Final Fantasy games. I also enjoy the animated cutscenes, medieval translation, and the amazing characters; Chapter 1 ended on an tragic note done really well. The game has a lot of content, so I strongly recommend you take a stroll with it rather than do a speed run (and probably fail since your equipment won't be as good and you didn't unlock proper jobs/handful of useful abilities); you should do all the propositions/errands since experimenting with job point costs are expensive (a wait in town option would be nice too). Some abilities have been upgraded too, like Meliadoul's sword techniques can damage monsters (who don't have armor). However, the game needs to be modernized compared to other remasters. No mid battle quicksave, jp farming to steal Gil or throwing stones at everyone/tailwind speed boosts is repetitive (and no auto pilot AI like Final Fantasy pixel remasters to fast forward and repeat the last actions), and multiple difficulties. The game cannot compete vs certain builds, like everyone using black magic chapter 1 to destroy bosses before they get a 2nd turn (and stronger lucavi demons doing friendly fire when transforming, to be destroyed by holy, invigoration or graviga), or use tips from the final fantasy fandom like only using the knight’s rend speed/weapon with concentration for more accuracy (the others are unplayable given they can still attack without losing turns, and the ninja’s dual wield allows a second try, which is better than range). Given the tedium in unlocking jobs for 1 or 2 useful abilities (outside time mage), I’d recommend playing Final Fantasy 2 pixel remaster now with boost/random encounter toggles and fast forward auto battle as well as auto save if you lose, as anyone can immediately be any role from the first dungeon (more replay value and experimenting), and your HP boosts are intuitive. In FFT, HP was equipment based for humans, and later on, speed boosting hats phase out heavy armor helmets unless using a monk who cannot normally wear headgear, outside female hair adornments, without that knight support ability.
