I pay $15 for this app and doesn’t work, its a fraud
  • Not a bad app, but reading speed is too slow.

A nice idea and good app with 2 exceptions: 1. The maximum speed for reading is TOO slow. There should no NO limit to reading speed. 2. The controls are too big and obstruct the PDF itself. There should be a way to collapse or hide the controls.
  • Long Term Member…disapointed with iOS complement

In the past VBooks worked with Ipad, IPhone, and MacOS once purchased. However, now to get past page 1 on a tablet or phone you have to buy a voice—that is already part of IOS??!! Its better to add the doc to a PDF and have the iPhone read it. The voices should be utilized that are “enhanced” with inflection - the list is out of date as is the engine itself. You can highlight almost ANY app on ANY PLATFORM and right click and have it read to you. This company is abusing a feature already included within MacOS/and iOS, and not only that, giving you less inflection, less options, an out of date voice list, and is no longer compatable across platform. The only way I can think of is that the app although it has the same name has different versions as I can “restore purchase” but have less or no use for it on the iOS Platform. Its dissapointing from an App I used daily.
  • Remove this app from the store.

Does not work and couldn’t find any support. This app should be removed from the store, $15 is absurd for an app that doesn’t work.
  • 'Version 1.4 (5)’ is a disaster

I used the previous version of this software extensively. I drive a lot, and make productive use of the time by listening to documents. When this latest release came out, a large percentage of PDF’s I need to read were all of the sudden no longer readable in vBookz. The version available as an option to update to, from the app store recently is 'Version 1.4 (5)’ - now looking at this page that lists the latest version as ‘Version 1.2.2’ makes me wonder even more what’s going on with vBookz. I’m stuck with this ‘1.4 (5)’ and I wish I could revert back to a prior version, whether it be 1.2.2 or whatever actually works. There’s a major problem with the last update: I have several examples of PDF’s that I know for a fact were readable in the last version that now either won’t even open into this version, or if they do it doesn’t read them. I wish I had a backup of the prior version. Now I’m searching for a competitor.

it use to work great until today, out of the blue the highlighting glass stopped working. No fixable solution, so now it is not functional. This needs a fix ASAP!
  • A+ Application, Don’t Worry About the 2011 Date

Like the previous reviewer, I too read PDFs with the voiceover (I use this TTS feature on my kindle) so that I may get both the auditory and the visual reading done simultaneously, which for me and for most people, commits it to memory better. There’s nothing wrong with this app, despite the 2011 date - visually it looks just as current as any other AppStore app and it does a fine job on large and weird PDFs. This is a must have for anyone “reading to learn,” like I do: white-papers, online text books, you name it. I am able to read them with audio and remember quite a bit more than I ever could reading silently (or) listening to a book alone. The neatest feature is that it highlights the word when you read it.. not even Amazon’s TTS nor Apple’s Accessibility TTS does that. It’s a must-have app for me and I use it all the time on a very new MacBook Pro 2015 running macOS Sierra (latest version as of this writing) - it works flawlessly.
  • Law Student: "One of the Best Purchased Apps for Me!"

I purchased various developors' PDF reader apps, and vBooks has been consistently the reader app that I prefer to use because of its simplicy, consistency, and effectiveness. The determining factor that makes this app make #1 my choice (actually two) is the ability to adjust the reading speek. This allows the calculation of time needed to read the entire the pdf— because of this, my study times improved drastically, by which I became a better learner (dramatically). Secondly, on an important personal note, in addition to calculating my reading times, it was absolutely important that I was actually reading the PDF material, while simultaneously listening and following along to its reader form. From personal experience, reading the PDF (visual learning) while listening (auditory learning) to it, proved to be an overall more effective learning experience. Finally, I purchased this app for my desktop and iPad(or iPhone), which required seperate purchases, and I found that I need both. However, I used the iPad version the most, and it offered a higher reading rate than the desktop.

don’t buy it, i wish i read the date when it was updated (the developer has not udpated the App since 2011). i have email them mulitple times to see if there were any soultion to why the app kept crashing, but it looks like they dont answer and they dont care. also i asked for my money back and did not hear anything. so do even bother buying it all what you doing is giving them $15 for a worthless app. apple should remove it
