  • DO NOT USE IN CURRENT STATE

I mistakenly thought this app was at least minimally usuable, but after connecting to my Epix watch, downloading maps incimpletely for >1 hour, and having the activity wheel spin repeatedly until Force Quit, I see no reason for anyone to waste time with this app. Very disappointed in Garmin for lack of support (check last update date).
  • absolutely terrible

i guess I had some money to waste on a watch. BaseCamp nor Express will recognize my watch, the "support" pages are worthless, response from Garmnin has been worthless. its just terrible all around.

Garmin builds good devices. Their software to allow one to plan trips on a desktop, and then transfer that trip to a device? Stone Age! This software is unuseable. There is nothing intuitive about it. It hasn't improved in forever. What is so freaking hard about allowing me to pick a number of geographic points, arrange an order, and then send those points to my device? It's embarrassing that Garmin doesn't care to do better.
  • Garmin should be ashamed

This app is so far below level of acceptable funtionality Garmin should just punt and start over. Evrything from trying to build maps (usually unsuccesful) to managing devices (usually unsuccessful) is clunky or downright inoperative. C'mon guys - connecting to a USB device shouldn't be a challenge. There are MANY other apps/programs that can do this stuff - up your game.
  • Barely usable software reflects poorly on Garmin devices

I really like my Garmin GPS but almost every time I use Basecamp I swear I'm never going to buy another Garmin device. I've been using this software for at least 5 years but the basic design of the user interface still eludes me. Couple that with instability and unbelievably slow response ("Did it crash or is it still waiting to redraw the screen?) and any attempt to explore the software design and capabilities tends to end in frustration. I really want to plan trips from the comfort of my home or office -- not while sitting behind the steering wheel using the GPS directly -- so some tool like Basecamp is essential. But Basecamp is barely usable and I've begun researching alternatives to Garmin for future navigation needs.
  • Horrendous user interface

The technolgy and capability Garmin offers is tremendous. Almost as tremendously frustrating is the user interface obstructing your use of this capability. It's like engineers took over without any attempt at understanding the customer. While something might seem easy for the engineer who built the program and knows exactly which submenu to access with 17 clicks to bring up a hiking trail, for the average person who tries to use it the first time, it's utter garbage. This program should probably be redesigned from ground up with the target used being a 4th grader.
  • PLEASE release a version for Apple Silicon

Basecamp always seemed faster on my Windows laptops than it did on any Mac, but it really seems slow on my fairly new M1 Pro.
  • Only good as an interface to my GPS

I have given up using Basecamp for anything more than an interface to my GPS. At the very least could you please have an accurate base map?
  • Now unusable with no fix in sight

Running it on a new M1 Pro Macbook 14. The program is completely unusable UNLESS you use 3d view on the maps. 2d view is so slow that you cannot use it (litterally that slow). Last update was in 2021. Garmin needs to make this for the m1 macs and update this thing. I have a bad feeling that they are trying to push us to use a web based route planning tool instead, but I won't always have access to the Internet on my travels. Garmin.. you are failing here once again.
  • This is maybe the worst app I have ever used

Or not used, as it were. It's unusable. It doesn't actually download your detailed maps. Heaven help you if you have a marine GPS like the 86sci. There's no using your marine charts or inland waterway maps. Heck, it didn't even cope with topo trail maps. This is absolutely abysmal. I'm going to look for a third party GPS app that actually works. Good grief, Garmin. Do better. For what I paid for my unit and extra maps, this app is a laughingstock.
