  • Lacking features found in most apps

All in all - this app tracks data well. But that's about where it stops. No iCloud syncronization support. Lose your phone? Lose your data! Syncronization requires your devices to be on the same physical WiFi SSID. Seriously? No cross-application support. I use MyFitnessPal to track food intake and exercise. This app only grabs the weight from MyFitnessPal and nothing else. This app does not syncronize with the built in iOS Health App. Being able to create notes for medications that are auto-added with each entry would be fantastic. I take a few different meds so I use the Notes field as a description of the medication (ie doseage, what it's generic for, etc.). Needless to say, I have to copy & paste each time I create a new entry. There's no way to export the data easily. I can print and save to PDF to send to my doctor, but being able to send him a CSV file where he can manipulate the data for his purposes would be a huge win! Being able to bulk select items with the ability to delete, etc. would be great too when cleaning things up. I really want to like this app, but I think I'll be switching to something else with more modern features.

I purchased this application for MAC, iPhone and iPad years ago and have been had a positive experience with the applications. Now the functionality I used is being held hostage for an annual fee. If I knew this originally I could have made an informed decision, now it feels like paying an annual ransim is required for what I have been using. I know the industry is going this way, but the policy is stated when the app is purchased, not after years of use. I have found another application that even supports iCloud jsynchronization. Bye Diabetes Pilot!

Nice app but I am upset the developer does not update the app at all. There are so many new features that could be implemented with the newer versions of iOS and macOS and last update was 2014. Either the developer gave up, although he says he hasn’t or he is plain lazy, not that there is anything wrong with that. I am considering swithing to MyFitness Pal that is constantly updating to take advantage of new OS frameworks and api’s. Too bad he has a good start. ;(
  • iPhone app needs subscription

I really like what this app does. It’s pretty easy to navigate and enter your data. Just needs to have a “recently entered” list. The thing I don’t like is that I enter 95% of my data on my iPhone because, well…it’s ALWAYS with me. Now that I have been using the sister app on my iPhone they want me to pay for a monthly or annual subscription. Shouldn’t the sister app be free, especially since I paid $30 for this one? Or at the very least be a cheap one time purchase price. Glad I synced my data up a couple of days ago because now it’s being held hostage in my phone because I can’t sync it without a subscription because, apparently, it’s been three weeks. I will now have to manually enter into the app on my desktop everything for the past few days. Not cool.

Recently diagnoses with diabetes and literally contains everything I need to track the management of my diabetes. Excellent notes feature and the ability to place entries that are not strictly about diabetes. The saved foods save me a lot of time. Highlt recommended,

I find the glucose and exercise programs exceptional. I would like to see a line for A1C readings. I really don’t like the food logging program at all. Some products for which I wanted to alter quantities were measured in ounces; i needed them to be measured in cups or tsp or tblsp. Altering amounts requires an esoteric knowledge of how the foods are calculated, then apply basic arithmetic to recalculate volumes appropriately. The locating foodstuffs is awful, and requires guesses as to how the particular food is catalogued. It is not a transparent part of the program. I use another much simpler program for logging food, then transfer calories and carbs to Diabetes Pilot by using the Quick Entry button. Fortunately that part of the program accepts all kinds of names that I can use for these entries. If Calorie Count provided Glucose logging, and a place for A1C logging I would use that program exclusively. But they don’t. What I do works for me, therefore I am content to give Diabetes Pilot a 3 star.

I have been using this app for 3 months. It is an excellent tool to record glucose readings, weight, exercise, and food intake. I like the interface with the ipad, the iphone and now the apple watch. Easy to use and understand. I believe this is an excellent tool in the management of diabetes.
  • The Best Diabetes App

I have been using this app for a number of years. My doctor’s are impressed with the reports that can be produced. I have also tried other apps (some free and others with relatively small charges) and have found them either adequet or silly. I especially like that I can taylor the medications (including Insulin types) and can track and monitor weight, Glucose and BP, among other important vitals. The Food Database is large and I can add other foods that I cannot locate in the database. I highy receommend this app.

Easy to understand, even easier to use. I can track my food intake / exercise regimen and see what’s working and what I might need to change. For a New Diagnosis it’s made it extremely easy for me to understand how this New Normal aspect of my life works and what I need to do to manage it. Bonus? Even my Dr was impressed. They were aware of tracking App’s but had never seen anything like this one before. During a visit, if they want to know how my sugar / carbs have been doing over the past few weeks? My phone has it. Graphed or listed. The ONLY concern I have with this App is security/privacy. One thing that’s concerned me from the very beginning (Almost caused me to by-pass this App while searching for something I could use on my phone) is the back-up/sync method. Not sure what the platform requirements for the App are but, I can’t see ANY reason why link-cable synching/backup is NOT possible with this program. Synching over Wifi, while convenient, is simply not secure. ESPECIALLY over public / unfamiliar Wifi networks. Which is where someone who travels frequently might find themselves. Needing to back-up private, medical, information to a laptop but unable to cable-link to a device to do so. A completly secure cable link would solve this problem with optional Wifi link when trusted networks are available. This seems kind of obvious. So why Wifi ONLY?
  • Crashes! Does not work right!!!

The new/updated version of this app (that is designed to work with the new Yosemite software) does not work right. It continually crashes, does not allow you to do food editing (adding and saving new foods or organizing favorites). It does not recognize that there is a data file already started so you have to go search for it from your file list (instead of it showing up like it’s supposed to). It states there is an i-phone and i-pad app - neither of which exists. I had wanted some kind of protable tool to use. I’m really disappointed. So many other people praised this app… all I can say is don’t spend your money on it right now… it’s really messed up!!! Just adds to my frustration when I am trying to deal with a new diagnosis.
