A: Unlike Guitar Pro for Windows and Mac, this app does not let you change the notation in an existing Guitar Pro file, or create sheet music in standard notation. It is however possible to edit a single-track tablature with the NotePad tool and export your work into .gpx and .gp formats to finish your composition in Guitar Pro 6 or 7. Editing a drum track is not available with the NotePad tool.

  • This is an essential tool for beginners.

I love this program on all platforms; I wouldn’t be the musician I am without it because I’ve learned to use it to really push the boundaries on my writing styles. I’m sure most metal musicians can relate to what I’m saying here! This is something great for a beginner to get locked in on with learning and, as well, composing their own material.
  • Best app for learning

I’m disappointed that you can’t use this app as an editor like the PC version. I would pay probably $30 for a decent editor version of Guitar Pro on my iPad.
  • Pretty good, honestly

I’ve read a lot of bad reviews so I want to say something nice about this app. I can write a lot of stuff with the options in this app. At first I didn’t know there was a hidden menu for dotted notes. That made me really mad until I discovered this menu. Since I use a lot of dotted notes in my stuff this is greatly handy to me. Is the sound quality the best? No but you can at least show yourself and your friends your music with some idea of what it’s supposed to sound like. Also i don’t need multiple tracks if I can import into gp8 which I can and I do. Would I like to see more editing features? Sure. But for the small amount of money I paid for this app I am pleasantly satisfied. Also it’s great for the my song book subscription and learning new songs on an actual guitar too!
  • Great learning tool.

Sorry, sort of busy practicing now on Guitar Pro. I am a 63 year old beginner and this is what my instructor is using as a teaching method. This App is very useful. Well, i’m wasting time. Gotta go. Great app.
  • When is the editor update coming to GP?

I am an old user of GP app and still love it, but I am already looking for an alternative app that would let me edit arrangements on my iPad. Most musicians nowadays do their creative work in the move, so it is very convenient to have an arrangement tool at hand. I hope GP engineers consider this suggestion. Thank you.
  • Wish there was more to it!

While I absolutely love this app, and it helps me write ideas down and write parts out for my band mates, I wish there were more tools/options for writing. I understand it’s a mobile app at a fraction of the price of the full computer program, there are simple things I wish would be added, such as; -multiple parts (maybe just do a limited amount? Limit to 2-4 parts in the mobile version?) -Tempo/time signature changes mid song These are the two big ones for me personally. And if there is a way to do this, I’d love to know, and I will gladly update the review! But I’ve looked so hard through the app and can’t find any way to do these things.
  • Requires subscription, low quality tabs

I thought being a paid app you’d have access to at least some useful features but no. To access even a single tab of music you need a subscription. Well I paid for a subscription and the tabs are low quality. Not impressed at all, there are better quality products out there.

Spent money on this app only for it not to work on my phone. Where do I get my refund?
  • Fine for practice on the go but almost useless for writing

I’ve been using Guitar Pro on my PC for code to ten years and it has become an integral part of my writing. When I saw there was a version of IOS I was very happy thinking that I could actually work on music away from the house. Well, I was sure disappointed to find out here is no edting feature to the files themselves and that th only editing you can do is in a severely crippled note section. I can us another tablature editing app, but then there isn’t a seamless transition between the full function Computer app and the phone/tablet version. I would gladly pay triple to get full editing capability. I don’t need the sound fonts. But come on Arobos, give us editing capability. Like I said, I would pay do it no problem.
