Description

iGeriatrics combines various American Geriatrics Society's clinical information offerings into one easy to use application. Aimed at healthcare providers and covering a wide range of topics relating to older adults, from medication safety to cross-cultural assistance, iGeriatrics is an excellent introduction to the information and services offered by the AGS. For only $9.99, a subscription gives you full access for 1 year to the following titles: * AGS Updated Beers Criteria The AGS Beers Criteria for Potentially Inappropriate Medication Use in Older Adults is the leading source of information about the safety of prescribing drugs for older people. To help prevent medication side effects and other drug-related problems in older adults, the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) has updated and expanded this important resource. * Geriatrics Cultural Navigator The Navigator offers quick guidance on different cultures including preferred forms of address, nonverbal communication, acculturation, culture-specific health risks, disclosure and consent, tradition and health beliefs, gender issues, approaches to decision-making, and use of advanced directives. * GeriPsych Consult This app has been developed to assist healthcare providers in managing psychotic symptoms and disorders in older adults. It is based content from both The AGS Geriatrics Review Syllabus and Geriatrics At Your Fingertips. * Guide to Common Immunizations The AGS Pocket Guide to Common Immunizations for the Older Adult was developed by the American Geriatrics Society to help clinicians ensure that their older patients get all of their vaccinations. This app includes essential information about four must-have vaccines for seniors and the most commonly prescribed travel vaccines. * Management of Atrial Fibrillation This app discusses the recommendations of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the American Heart Association (AHA) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Guidelines and their effectiveness in managing AF to prevent strokes. It lists the risks and benefits of treatment options, including warfarin alternatives, and describes the co-morbidities and geriatric syndromes common among older adults with AF. * Prevention of Falls Guidelines The AGS Guideline for Prevention of Falls in Older Persons aims to assist health care professionals in their assessment of fall risk and in their management of older adults who have fallen or are at risk of falling. I was told this was a great resource from my professor. It has a bug and will not even open. Says there are no products for prescriptions.

Scanty content. There is not enough information for the price of the app.
  • Free trial?

Why would I pay $9.99 for a subscription when I don't even know if I like the app or find it useful? A free trial would be appreciated.

I find Medscape to be a lot more helpful. The Beers list is handy, but otherwise I don't use this app.
  • Worthless!!

If I could give this app zero stars, I would have. This app has little information and none of it is useful to anyone familiar with healthcare.
  • Weak app

Difficult to navigate. Poorly written. Unintuitive. Very disappointed.
  • Poor layout, limited tools

I was hoping for a paid app, that it would have a lot more functionality. It is not well designed and doesn't have as many functional assessment tools as a resident or practicing physician would want. It could be improved by changing the algorithm layout to not be individual question based.
  • START-STOPP criteria

I would love to see the START-STOPP criteria for medication use in the elderly incorporated into this app. It is a good source in addition to the Beers list.

I paid and downloaded and it does nothing-incomplete home screen just frozen. Deleted and installed again, same thing. I want a refund!! Update fixed the freezing issue. Thank you!

Many things missing. For example: Depression: an interactive scoring system / checkboxes should have been put in here. This is something one uses everyday in evaluating geri pts. Afib: Rate control medication guidelines in this population; the CHADS2 scoring, HASBLED - where are those? A notes field (for a bookmark). I await the changes.
