Description

Symantec VIP Access helps protect your online accounts and transactions by using a strong authentication process when you sign in to your VIP-enabled accounts. • Strong authentication: Provides strong, two-factor authentication when logging into your VIP-enabled accounts. • QR/App Code: Scan a QR Code to generate site-specific security codes for strong two-factor authentication to your favorite websites. Use VIP Access at participating organizations such as eBay, PayPal, E*TRADE, Facebook, Google, or any one of the hundreds of sites within the VIP Network: : https://vip.symantec.com Features Strong Authentication VIP Access adds strong authentication to your normal login in one of the following ways: • Dynamically generate a one-time use security code on your mobile device. Use that code along with your username and password. • Receive a push notification on your mobile device that you approve as authentication. If your organization requires you to define an additional device authentication mechanism to meet the security requirements, you will be prompted for the additional local authentication such as passphrases or biometrics. • Enter a challenge number on your mobile device that you receive during authentication. The challenge number proves that you are physical present during authentication. • Use Touch ID, Face ID, or Passcode in a push notification to authenticate yourself on your mobile device. Note: Touch ID or Face ID authentication requires that your mobile device is Touch ID or Face ID capable and that you have registered a fingerprint or facial recognition authentication on the device. The strong authentication method you use depends on the method implemented by your participating organization. You can generate a security code even if you do not have a network or mobile connection. QR/App Codes Scan a QR Code at participating organizations such as Google, Facebook, Amazon, and more to generate a security code every 30 seconds to securely sign in. Enter this security code along with your password to add strong authentication to your favorite websites. Be sure to read the VIP End User Agreement after downloading VIP Access: https://docs.broadcom.com/doc/end-user-agreement-english

  • Terrible app and security

This app is supposed to be used for several of my financial institutions. The problem is that the key and seed for the app are generated per DEVICE instead of per service. This is absolutely mind boggling and insecure. What is the purpose of having a security key duplicated across different services? Any institution using this as 2FA should be embarrassed and switch to standard TOTP
  • Where is the security?

Is this a cruel joke? How is it this app has No secure login. > No Face ID. > No password Nothing. It’s actually MORE SECURE to not to use this if the app that requires it has Face ID built-in. What an absolute joke!
  • Works but developer needs to enable Face ID for protection!

My other authenticator apps all have Face ID enabled. It's a huge added security feature. Therefore, I believe Symantec needs to add this as well!

Many apps for which we need the code generated by VIP app are also on the same phone. Hence if your phone gets compromised, then they can also access VIP app and enter the code in the very apps that you are trying to protect by using the second layer. This app should be PIN protected and this option should be provided to enhance the security.

It is mind blowing to me that an app that is often used for financial institutions didn’t even bother to use Face ID or a passcode to access the app. If someone steals your phone, they can easily get the code. Absolutely unforgivable. Whoever is in charge of this lack of security needs to be fired.

No reason to not let us tap on the X or Checkmark, instead forcing us to swipe for no good reason whatsoever.

Not compatible with iOS 17. Making it useless until they upgrade the app.
