Description

The companion app for Zombies, Run! The Board Game, the thrilling real-time audio-driven co-op game for 1-4 players from the makers of the hit game Zombies, Run! Prepare your team for a frantic sprint across a zombie-infested island! Rescue survivors, uncover secrets, and (hopefully) escape... - Hear a fully-voiced story, listen to survivors and make snap decisions about saving or leaving them. Will you risk it all to be a hero, or keep your team alive at all costs? - Real-time audio tells you when to add Zombie Cards to the game board, and when to move them along. No need to look at the screen! - Save your game between play sessions.

I so badly want to like this game. The physical component game play is alright, but the app itself needs so much more. Besides the bugs that allow you to run all over town with no story progression or get trapped in a location and be forced to restart, there are all sorts of ‘extra’ components included in the game that I want to use, but never find in the gameplay. If the app actually directed you through the story, the game would be better. Also, the game does not seem to sense your ability level. There is a bite component that looks awesome, but I’ve never used it. When you’ve played the game for hours without getting a bite, then the game should start throwing two and three zombies simultaneously at you, or you suddenly notice one at tracker space C. Running through a town should be harder AKA filled with more zombies than running through the woods. Making camp options should also be more story limited or paired with distances in the runs. I never run out of opportunity cards or even ration them. For a zombie game, it just doesn’t feel pressured at all.

Even after the 1.4 update, my party still got trapped in the Zumo bridge bug- unable to progress. Game play was unbalanced and quite weak. Voice acting on the app was good, but became repetitive. Couldn’t finish the game due to bugs in the story/app. Really disappointing and frustrating. Not recommended.
  • App freezes

Played twice and the app froze with no option to choose from at Beresford. Also, while on Zuno bridge, the app only allows me to run back and forth from the east side of the bridge to the west side. No other options were present other than resting. The app needs to be updated.
  • Fun so far!

Two of us played and had fun! It would be more fun with more players since the leader has too much to keep track of if they play leader and make plans at the same time. The dialogue and storyline are awesome! All in all, pretty easy to figure out how to play (the YouTube how-to helped), and really engaging and exciting once you’re playing! We will definitely keep playing it! I’ll change to five stars if the screen stops going to sleep on us during paused parts, and we get an audible heads up on timed challenges or choices. (Also, my kid votes to make an option to select a less scary zombie growl sound LOL!)

iOS 11 and audio won’t work. Settings doesnt pull the app so cannot check permissions. No in app prompts (very rudimentary app). Was a huge fan of the jogging app and bought this specifically to play over holiday. $45 paperweight. I didn’t know I was paying to be a beta tester.

I have been a fan of Zombies Run since for 6 years now and love the app but the board game has been a bit of a disappointment. I’ve tried to play through twice now and both times the app freezes in a new location with no options. Even after restarting I still can’t progress. Also, there are times that there is no clear motive of what my team is supposed to be doing so we end up running back and forth across town with no progression in the story. I hope they upgrade the game play because I want so badly to love this game.

I don’t usually play any kind of app-dependent board games, but this app made it pretty easy to figure out, the audio was clear (as clear as it could be for an apocalypse simulation) and it made sure that you knew the instructions every step of the way!

As an initial Kickstarter of ZR! And the game the app making solo play possible is amazing.
