    This is what the stormbound experience looks like: you start playing the game, you collect cards, make your deck, play against other players, typical stuff. But then you hit a wall: it doesn’t matter how good your strategy is, it doesn’t matter how well constructed your deck is, inevitably you’ll play against someone who’ll use the exact same card as you except theirs has 7 power and yours has 5. It’s typical to have entry barriers in any card game, at first you won’t have all the rare cards to build a full deck and it takes a bit before you have a full functioning deck. But here it’s an incredibly larger gap: Cards can be leveled up five times, each time increasing the stats and effectiveness of abilities. To max out a card at common rarity, you need a whole 49 copies. 40 copies for a rare, 29 for an epic, 20 for a legendary. Compare that to your typical ccg, where you need 3-4 copies of a card, and you’re looking at an egregious amount of grinding (or opening up that wallet) to reach a point where you’re no longer capped based on your collection and not your skill. But don’t worry, you can watch an add to get 1 random card :)

  • Great Game! One Issue

    The game is fun and challenging but your competition increases too much when you jump up. You end up battling people with all of the highest level cards. If there was a level that allowed only level 4 cards instead of jumping from 3 to 5 the game would be much more fun for everyone.

  • Bad level cap mechanic

    I think the game is fun but after your cards reach level 2 I think it is there is really no point to keep collecting them as in ranked they become capped. I have much stronger cards that are not at their full potential because of this. It removes all the incentive for card hunting.

    After losing more than five games in a row as a person who has only been playing the game for a few days, I’ve come to realize regardless if it’s pvp or storyline, if you don’t draw good cards in the first few rounds, you will lose. Makes it hard to earn gold and even harder to get rubies to buy new cards. Takes most the fun out when you can’t expand your deck and everyone else just has better ones.

    The games not balanced at all. You allow people to go down a league causing a problem on how far people can actually make and rewards compared to if you didn’t do it. This game has become nothing but a pay to win

  • Great game, TERRIBLE optimization

    My iPhone 15 Pro gets hot (not warm, HOT) within a few minutes of playing this game. That is despite the fact that the graphics are very simplistic, and I am not saying that negatively, as I think the game looks quite good. But the truth remains, graphics of this fidelity could run on an iPhone 5. Yet this game still manages to drain my battery by roughly 33% per hour. That is with the “MAX QUALITY” setting that the devs provided set to OFF. Meanwhile, I can easily get double the gaming time with other games that push dramatically higher resolution textures and more detailed 3D models. I find myself playing this game way less often that I would like as a result… If I’m in an Uber and have only 40% battery, I’ll play another game so I don’t arrive at my destination with 25% battery.

    Beautiful game and fun concept, but you’ll never compete with others who have spent money. Plus, since the cards are all made up, it never feels as balanced as it could or should be.

  • Great game…with one complaint

    I’ve played this game for years. Wonderful game, easy to learn and never seems to lose it’s appeal. After getting a new phone I had to start from the beginning on this game recently (which I didn’t mind actually), but one thing that I despise is the matchmaking. I’m currently level 13 and I just played against a level 20. This is a huge difference in this game. Matchmaking should at maximum let you play someone 5 levels above you. Don’t listen to the naysayers though about the monetizing on the app. You can have lots of fun and win a lot and don’t have to spend money. It just takes longer to ascend but that’s part of the fun.

    Game is very well made and really fun and strategic. While there are a bunch of bots in the game when you first start playing they mostly go away in silver. I hope they keep updating the game!
