Description

Scan and OCR (Optical Character Recognition / Recognize Text) documents in PDF. OCR and all image processing are performed on user devices so there is no data exposure risk. DocOCR Pro turned your iPhone / iPad into a powerful scanner for text recognition. Use it to scan and OCR not only documents, but also books, whiteboards, receipts, business cards, posters, coupons, ...etc. as PDFs, and annotate or sign the scanned PDFs. Photo Collage: - Combine multiple pages into one sheet. It's very useful especially when you need to print multiple pages (e.g. two sides of ID cards) on one A4/Letter paper. It automatically detects document edges and surface in a picture, dewarp curved surface, correct perspective distortion, remove shadows and brighten it up to produce a clear and sharp document, especially useful in a low-light environment. It is easy to drag and drop files to group them in a folder and organize in many ways: create, delete, edit, rename, deplicate, merge, split, and move documents between folders. You can search documents by name easily in the app. Or full text search on all your OCR texts. By turning on the auto file sync with iCloud Drive, you can easily access your scanned documents from any other device. By turning on WiFi file sharing, you can read all PDF files on the device. You can also email documents out as PDF or JPEG files. Export OCR result as txt or docx file. Other ways to import / export documents: - Fax documents to over 100 countries instantly (cost calculated by the number of pages and recipient country and paid via in-app purchase). - Transfer all your documents from one device to another. - Support download / upload to SMB (Win / Mac / NAS). - Support download / upload to iCloud Drive. - Support download / upload to Dropbox. - Support download / upload to Google Drive. - Support download / upload to Box. - Support download / upload to OneDrive. - Support download / upload to WebDAV Server. - Print documents via AirPrint. - Save documents to Photo Albums. - "Open In" other apps, e.g. iBooks, Kindle, Adobe Acrobat Reader. Import Files: - Import PDFs via "Open In" from other apps. - Import PDF/JPEG from cloud storages. Fax: - In-app fax sending and receiving is convenient especially when you are out of office or have no fax machine at all. - Receive a push notification when a fax is sent or received succesffuly or failed for what reason. - Receive faxes with non auto renewable subscription which supports dozens of countries (we kept adding more) for users to subscribe a fax number for receiving faxes. - Deny all faxes when no need to receive any fax.

Use this App a lot. To package pictures and scans together. Then deliver in a PDF to cloud storage or share with others. Also, used the FAX function. Excellent App.
  • The best OCR on iPhones I could find (Destroyed in version 5)

This is the best Document OCR app I found by luck. It is about 95% accurate with good photo. It can do things that others cannot, like make the lines continuous thus preserving paragraphs. It can pull good recognition out of if even bad photos. It can also preserve columns and do not mix up the lines in between the columns. It can even recognize some handwritten text at some level depending on the clarity of the writing. It really saved me a lot of time. I do not use anything else. It is an excellent company with great talent. It is sometimes hard to find in the App Store. Above 5 star review I have written was on Doc OCR Pro Version 4.6. When I saw it has been updated since to version 5.7 I thought it must have been improved to near perfection. I wanted update it and also install iOS 16. I thought I should see how good it is on my iPhone 14 Pro. When I tried the new version 5.7 I was shocked. The same scan with 5.7 was totally unusable. How can a company take wonderful OCR software and instead of improving it to more perfection absolutely destroy it. I sincerely recommend this company to thrash the OCR engine in the new version and go back to the OCR engine in the 4.6 version. Until then I would not recommend Doc OCR Pro for use in OCR jobs. Unfortunately, I have to keep the version 4.6 in iOS 14 on my iPhone SE to be able use this amazing OCR software. I am concerned if I update the system to iOS 15 or iOS 16 it may stop working. There is nothing better out there. If this company just take the version 4.6 and adapt it to iOS 16 and issue as an OCR software it would be wonderful.
  • Not so good recently.

I have been using this app since 2018 with no problems until recently. In the past 3 months I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall it 4 times because it will not open. After reinstalling, it will work for a few days or weeks and then won’t open again. I have the latest updates on the app and the phone, an Apple iPhone 13 pro max. I will be looking for an alternative app if this problem continues. Update 9/24/22: still crashing, no word from developer or any fixes for this problem.

This app has improved noticeably over the years with better edge detection and smoothing out curved pages when scanning. It also seems to upload faster to iCloud and other cloud services in and across devices. This is still my go-to scanning app. In fact, I’ve deleted my other scanning apps,; which included scanner pro, Adobe PDF reader and even Lens PDF. It also has some nice extras... which I guess are the norm now for a lot of PDF scanning app or PDF readers. It does let me sign a document, it lets me write on it freely and put posted notes on it. It lets me merge or split PDF files, which is always great. It lets me email, fax (with a minimal fee), airdrop, you name it. But I think it needs a facelift and minor improvements. It still doesn’t always let me open encrypted PDF documents It detects Apple Pencil but writing with it in this app doesn’t feel as precises as in other apps. I know this is probably not the designed use for this app but i like filling out forms in it. It is clunky with adding text. I wish it had field detection so that I can easily fill out documents and submit them ASAP. It still doesn’t support split view on iPad. I wish I can have this app opened on one side and my web browser. It is still a great app to own but be mindful that if you plan to use it for editing forms it will annoy you. Also, sometimes it’ll duplicate a document just because you changed the name of a scanned file from 09_12_2019 to paper1.

I use Docr Scanner to copy music to a software package called OnSong. Functional and keeps all my sheet music in one place. Many times staff lines fill in with a shadow or wavy lines appear. On these occassions I need to trash and then repeat copying process. I like that it turns my music into a pdf.

It is pretty good, all it needs now is text recognition and pdf optimization and it would be perfect.
