Description

Test the performance of your solid state drives (NVME/SATA), hard disk drives and flash drives (pen/usb) in just one minute. DiskMark performs real world speed tests and shows: + Sequential read/write speeds which is the performance you see when copying large files. + Random read/write speeds which is the performance you experience when opening or using programs that read and write a lot of files to disk. DiskMark is extremely simple to use and invaluable if you work with any USB drives (flash or external harddisks). It also exhausts I/O buffer caches, resulting in highly accurate results which you can expect to see in real life. A history of benchmarks lets you quickly compare your own drives. The latest NVME/M.2 SATA SSDs employ various techniques such as SLC caching and DRAM buffers to showcase better speeds. DiskMark is specifically built to take these into account so that the read/write performance reported in the benchmark is as close to the real-life performance. Lifetime upgrades are included when you purchase the app. We don't have any recurring charges or in-app purchases in any of our apps.

Won't work on my main mac volume of a brand new computer. Says it needs to be done to a volume you can write to which the main mac one clearly is. It's my application folder and has full permissions. I want my money back.
  • Driver Required

The developer doesn't mention that a kernel extension is required for testing external USB drives. The driver won't install on my system. $4.99 down the drain.
  • Good Product, but...

You really need a list of Apple products to compare your own Mac with that of others.
  • a bit basic for me but the numbers do not seem right

I compared the numbers to other software on a mac and also tried my pc. USB C ssd 1tb. Seems not to be right. xbench gives me 4k blocks and 256k blackss with a lot higher speed rating on the writing as the other software i tried. and on Random the numbers with this software are way lower telling me something is not right with this software.
  • Possibly the only real HDD speedtest on OSX

I have a few SSDs that use SLC caches and no other tool has been able to test the disk speeds accurately since they usually read and write only from the cache. This is the only program that I have seen exhaust the SLC caches and provide the resulting “real” disk speed. Well worth the asking price.
  • Simple Fix for some "Unable to write file" issues, otherwise works as described

If you get the unable to write file warning even though you can see your drive in "Finder" just fine try this: 1. Right click on drive in Finder and select "Get Info" 2. Under "Sharing & Permissions" make sure your username is included in the list with "Read & Write" privileges 3: If you're not listed, add your username with the " " button (may need to click to lock in the bottom-right corner to unlock) and give yourself "Read & Write" privileges That should be it!

I like the utility for USB & internal SSD on my Mac but I’m catching the error about cannot work with an external Thunderbolt 2 drive. Hmm…is this not supported?

  • Elegantly simple and probably foolproof

This is a small application that installs quickly and seems to be depressingly accurate. If you are concerned about the speed of your hard drives—internal or external—you are probably aware that something is going wrong. This app will not tell you what is going wrong with your drive, but it will quickly let you know that in fact your drive is at death’s door: then, ideally, you can get all your data backed up in time. The price seems reasonable considering how desperate you must be for bad news. It can’t be used to evaluate a drive to which it cannot read and write, so it will tell you for instance that it cannot address your TIME MACHINE ONLY backup hard drive. “Controls” are extremely simple and spare: information is provided with little i-buttons if you want to get more background on a particular statistic.
