With as easy as it is to de-private-ize the internet, this (using a Vitual Private Network, or VPN) seems like somthing we all should be doing, but don’t. I figure it is either an education thing - Baby Boomers (born 1936-1963) assume email is more/less about = POSTAL MAIL privacy. It’s not. Or it is a generational thing. Many in Millennial-Generation use the rational that since they have nothing to hide, they have no need for privacy. With respect, I suggest that this also is a left-turn in logic. Think of the lock on your front door. Why is that there? Stupid question, I know.. it’s there for privacy and (then) security. You need not be hiding something to want this basic need fulfilled. And Baby Boomers? It has less to do about believing they’re privacy is assured and more to do with just teaching them how simple VPN is to get & use. They are ‘afraid' of technology because they don’t understand it. It’s a, 'teach an old dog, new tricks’ thing. In this case, it isn’t. NortVPN is easy. Simply download it, click, ‘agree’ to a popup-window stating app will change/access info on PC (apps always did that except now the lawyers said it must be stated). Anyway download it, install it (all automatic except a few clicks from you) and you’re done. If you want the multi-year subscription (I did), that’s up to you. I always leave NordVPN window minized so for that rare site that’s blocked but I is, OKAY, click one button to disconnect Nord and the website will load, and after, one click to connect it again. That’s it. The privacy provided by most VPNs is something everyone should be using. I chose NordVPN because for about a $100, I will have their services for 3-years. That’s a small price to pay to have this protection on ALL my devices. I highly recommend this app.

worked fine the first few times but last time i tried to log in i thought i fried my computer. after logging in i get a pop up asking for nageant password and then another VPN pop up. i already logged in! i don’t know what my nageant password is and cannot close the pop up box. then the same box pops up and another! i had to delete the app, remove VPN from my network preferences. just doesn’t work like it’s supposed to. terrible app. i paid for 2 years worth and scared to add back on to my comp

NordVPN has proven to be very reliable (at least on desktop). On mobile however, there are moments when the connection stalls, for no reason. Switching from WiFi to LTE and then back to WiFi usually fixes the issue, but I don’t have any issues like that on desktop. Great service!
  • Use Private Internet Access instead

Downloaded, immediately made my internet too slow to function. Can’t access any sites while the VPN is connected, regardless of access point. Use Private Internet Access instead - it’s cheaper, you can pay with a gift card, and I’ve never had issues getting high speed internet while connected. Waiting on my refund
  • Constantly changing and BADly designed UI

The UI has been changing with every small version… And it still cannot add server to favourate list easily from search or recently using. NO sorting option in server list! What happened to your UX department???
  • best all round VPN for apple households

    By rhkennerly
we run a 100% apple household. NordVPN can be set to be fully automatic so that family members can’t walk into a coffee shop or free wifi place and get into trouble because they forgot to turn on the VPN manually. IOS or OS X it just works. The specialty routers are particularly useful, the Onion double hop before connecting really obscures your system even before you connect to TOR. And the peer to peer VPN works great with our remote office and contracts. The fact that all the server records are sent to Panama and are deleted daily is a big plus for privacy activists.
