  • Great idea; terrible execution

    By drh7900
They offer a 30-day “unlimited” trial, and very poorly word their offering such that you don’t know that audiobooks are not included in the trial (they should call this out explicitly). Given the terrible reviews, you’d think they would at least offer one full book, but they will not let you listen to any more than 5% of any audiobook while on the trial. The day before my trial was to expire, I tried to go in the app and find a way to cancel and it’s not available in the app; you have to go to the website to cancel. I was going to go on the website the next day to cancel only to find they charged my card the previous day, before they should have. I gave them an extra star only because they didn’t fight me on the refund when I called out that I was charged a day early. Their facebook page is filled with positive feedback, but I was sorely disappointed with the offering as a whole. Their business practices leave much to be desired. If you can find content you’ll enjoy, it may be great, but I wanted it for audiobooks and the whole experience left me unhappy.
  • Please get the kinks worked out!

I would love to continue this membership but....I have very little free time and like to listen when it’s convenient. Frustrating as all get out when I have a break from raising 3 grandkids and cannot listen. I’m one step away from returning to old reliable Audible.
  • Repeatedly get “error from server”

    By frazierfamily1
Since we’re paying for this service, you folks have GOT to fix the bugs on this! We repeatedly get “error from server. Try again later.”
  • Horrible experience

    By TheFatFet
I, like so many others, had hoped this would be a viable alternative to Audible, I was wrong. Yes, there are several books worth listening to, however, the app is so poorly written that playing the audiobook is a painful experience. Expect to have to press the play button every five minutes or so. Also, when you pause and close the app you will lose your place and the audio will resume from much earlier than the last place you were listening. Most recently I was logged out and not able to log back in. Needless to say, my account has since been canceled. Maybe once Playster gets it together I’ll be willing to give them a try again.
  • Great in theory, awful in practicality

This is the buggiest app I have ever used. More than half of the time the app fails to load or loads and fails to play content. It's unfortunate because they do have an enormous library but it is inaccessible the majority of the time. So frustrating.
  • Bad app

    By finngram
It really sounds good but is terrible , shuts off frequently and usually won’t load books
  • They are not upfront about their "free trial"

    By cmac2573
The free, one month trial, is only to access the app and the first 3 chapters of an audio book. Once you hit chapter three they tell you you have to pay for the service. It is a very shady thing that they are doing and it gives me pause on if i should really continue to do business with them. The company should be upfront with exactly the type of service they are offering to you. I have a feeling this wont be the only time i get a surprise like this with the company. May try them for a month but there is no way i would prepay for an entire year with this type of bait and switch tactics. The app worked fine for the first three chapters of the book I read, and in theory this could be a great service, but i am skeptical now.
  • App as bad as website

    By Moragthegreen
Well, I’ve given them my credit card over and over and logged in to PayPal (and they kept signing me up for a different service once PayPal popped up, I just wanted audiobooks only) and then it routes me back to the page showing no payment method on file. I can’t even PAY these people. My card keeps getting declined for no reason, and this is happening on the app AND their website. It’s just not worth it. maybe I’ll hear from support but based on other reviews now I have to worry about my card being charged extensively for a service I didn’t want. They keep trying to force me to get the whole enchilada at $24.95 even though I keep clicking “audiobooks only” for $14.95. And wait! There more! The 30 day trial magically becomes 14 once you’ve entered everything and only if you have the most expensive package. I even tried to sign up for the one year contract with the tablet bundle.......couldn’t even get my payment info in. I’m going to the Better Business Bureau if I get charged. Seriously.
  • Bugs in the app and business model

    By V(*)
I initially read the reviews and felt the company was being given a hard time by impatient users, it sounds like a great service, I wanted to try it and be patient. After a month, I canceled and have the following objections: * The app is not only buggy, it probably should have not been released yet. Each time you load it, anything can happen, it might crash, log you out, or at the very least, reset your settings * UX is terrible, each time you run the app you will be taken into a mess, requires multiple taps to get to the book that you were listening to * Settings are reset each time you open the app, I think this is intentional. I listen on 1.5x speed as I get bored otherwise. It goes against their business model, the more you listen, the more they have to pay, so they insist on resetting the settings each time (very annoying) * I signed up for a trial, listening to a book just stopped... apparently the trial just meant you can sample books. I then signed up for the paid subscription, but when I canceled, my subscription ended on the day I started the trial, not when I paid (even though I was not able to use it properly during the trial) * The app will randomly show you a message to listen to other books while you're listening. This will stop the playback. You have to back to the app, answer "no", to continue. Imagine how nice this is while running. * Using the headset controls on an iPhone works 30% of the time. More often than not, if you want to pause, your iPhone will start playing your music. Then you have to go back to the app, tap 50 times get back to your book (oh, and remember to change your settings, they were reset) I only listed the major issues, I could probably write a booklet listing all issues. Great idea, but I don't think their business model works, it goes against good customer experience. And the app simply wasn't ready for primetime, maybe another three months worth of testing? I would avoid
  • Terrible company

    By Awesomeness1771
The trial is very limited you can’t listen to a whole audio book so why have a 30 day trial and the the special offer doesn’t include audio books but they don’t tell you that until you’ve paid them.
