  • Support Question Ignored

    By must have coffee
Two weeks ago I submitted a question to Bear’s developer through the app asking if Bear (non-subscribed use) collects personal information. Still waiting to hear back. Something to hide, perhaps? Support is integral to any app IMO. hence the rating.
  • Far Beyond the Rest

I was looking for a minimalist way to write blog posts, notes and book outlines and this app ROCKS! Choice of fonts, font size, sentence width — and a bunch of beautiful themes make it well worth aa buck fifty a month. I am a user of Byword and iAWriter, or should I say I used to be a user of these apps ... because now my main go to is Bear.
  • Disappearing notes

    By Ocean Maintenance
I like the app, however I have lost notes of high importance on at least 2 occasions. Have emailed Bear concerning issue with no response. I purchased a one month pro version because of first impression. Due to the lack of support I cannot see myself subscribing again.
  • Very Buggy Version

    By Stepheniota
This current version crashes every time I try to open the app.
  • Search function works better in desktop version

    By MandyNel
Utterly disappointed that the search function in the iOS versions only show search preview on a left pane and will never show the result useful on the main page. You still have to painfully search line by line!!
  • If this app ain’t perfect, then nothing is.

This is the best app ever!
  • Annoying trail

Give me a real trial. Not this silly 1 week thing where I have to cancel. Just let me actually try out your app.
  • $1.49/month? Yes pls

Gorgeous app, does its job. Although I’m used to grouping my notes on notebooks, tags seem pretty useful too, and you can nest them. So overall great app for me :)

I can’t delete old notes on watch, I have to delete app then reinstall.
  • A wonderful program with massive bugs.

    By noghbaudie
I’ll start off by saying that I love this application’s feel, how it handles text/markdown, and generally working with the program itself. If you plan on using this application on one device only you can stop here; that’s five stars. However, for the vast majority of users, I’d do some testing before going pro, as I’ve battled the bugs in this app for over a month. I’ve poured over the forums and blogs, and emailed Bear support back and forth a lot as well. And it just keeps failing to function across multiple devices spectacularly; specifically OSX to IOS. Devices state that they have never been synced, or sync fine for a couple weeks, then they abruptly stop. I’ve committed to the application twice and had my notes fall out of sync arbitrarily which has caused me a lot of problems with my work and certificate course when the notes I took on my work computer don’t show up on my other devices. I’ve uninstalled, cleared all cloud stores, removed hidden files, restarted, deleted all notes and name it. Every time I get it working and think I’m safe..I get burned. And to be clear, I’ve worked in technical support and related positions since the 90’s..with developers, scrum masters, and other folks on both ends of the process. When I reach out for support I have exhausted all options, and in most cases all suggestions from support people are already checked off my list. And it almost always comes out later that a bug in their software or the API’s they are using to make their app function are the cause...which is a developer problem, not a user problem. This is one of those things. Aside from the syncing nightmare, one of my Macs tells me I have no subscription, even though in iTunes it says I clearly do. I have one iCloud account, and no matter how many times I sign in/out, de-authorize/reauthorize, or restart.. it won’t register..but three other devices say otherwise. I’m sorry that such a great app has useless syncing and unreliable subscriptions. If I can’t trust an app’s reliability after this much work, it’s not worth wasting space on my devices. I only wish I could get back half the hours wasting trying to make it work.
