Description

Congratulations, you have found the finest METAR & TAF monitoring, reporting, and alert system designed for your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. METARs Aviation Weather provides a quick and convenient way to access the world's most trusted routine weather reports, the Meteorological Terminal Aviation Routine Weather Report (METAR) and the Terminal Area Forecast (TAF). Used by pilots in their pre-flight briefing, these weather reports contain critical information about winds, visibility, clouds, temperature, and other observed and forecast weather conditions. This application collects weather reports from METAR and TAF stations, color codes them to the appropriate flight category, then displays them in a format similar to that of a calendar, helping you to see trends at a glance. Unique to this app is a robust alerting system, which monitors changing flight categories and notifies you based on alert conditions you choose. For example, if you want to know when your departure airport turns from IFR to VFR, tap a few settings, and you'll get an alert when the change occurs. • Seven days of history • Formatted to local time • Plain Language Translation • Flight Category Alerts https://www.METARs.com

  • Best Historical METARs App

I use Foreflight and Windy (by windy.com) to do my weather briefing and forecasting before I fly, but I still find this app to be helpful for quickly determining area conditions at my favorited airports as well as for getting historical METARs at a specific airport. The one thing it’s missing is the ability to manually sort your favorites list.
  • Pilots, Don’t buy it. ForeFlight has it all

Not what I was expecting. Does not update fast not included TAF and it is nothing more that I get from my ForeFlight program. I do not recommend it at all. Too bad I have to purchase it before have the chance to try it.
  • Too long to update

Its 20 mins passed the hour and this app is not updating as fast as it should. Pilots need updated weather ASAP. Aviationweather.gov updates usually within 10 minutes after the hour. I am deleting this app and will check my Metars and Tafs using a browser. Waste of money.

As a commercial helicopter pilot covering large geographical areas in a VFR only helicopter, I dreamed of having a watch notification when airport of my choosing were changing from VFR to IFR, this app turns those dream into reality. Also having quick access to historical METAR data is a bonus. I’m really pleased with this app so far and the price of admission is more than fair. Great job!
  • Unfortunate timing of aviation weather center server malfunction

When I initially purchased this app it worked great! Then all of the sudden it stopped. I assumed it was just the app and gave it a bad review... well it turns out the aviation weather centers server had a malfunction that was affecting the entire system and not an app related problem. App works great on iPhone X and iPad. A good source for aviation weather and route weather planning.

Simple fix. Alphabetical order. Need to be able to find the station quicker than just scrolling.
  • I like this program!

I really like this program because of the simplicity and ease of use. What I wished it had was the ability to pick one airport and sort the others around it based on distance so I could do some recreation trip planning based on distance from my selected airport. Ideally, I'd like to pick an airport and have it fill in all available METARs in an ever widening circle. Then have the ability to select a general destination point and have all in route show up in order. I did have one bug where it wiped out six previously selected airports.

the app crashes all the time ... it has trouble updating and refreshing especially during periods of rapidly changing weather. I still like the 7-day lookback and the banner notifications, but let the developer work out the bugs before you consider this.
